Brisbane Marine Pilots provides the following services:
Our organisation provides marine pilots 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. We also provide expert advice on maritime matters and regularly review the Port’s navigation and logistics systems.
Being a marine pilot is Brisbane is a particularly challenging and unique role. The Port of Brisbane is also a unique combination of sea, bay, river to berth transits. These differences require our pilots to be trained to the highest standards and we are continually undertaking training, continuing professional development and assessment.
Brisbane Marine Pilots have a high skilled Launch Crew who manage the transfer of our pilots to and from vessels utilising our 4 Pilot Launches We have 3 vessels stationed in Mooloolaba and 1 in Brisbane to manage pilot transfers. Our Pilot Launches are maintained to the highest possible standards to ensure continuity and reliability in our service. To assist the wider port community, we also transfer non-pilot personnel transfers and limited cargo as necessary.
We participate and advise in Port development project feasibility studies including implementing strategies to systematically address maritime risk. Our pilots participate in simulator work to test safety parameters of vessels entering the port as well as new berth trials and towage requirements.
